Frock - it's the Melbourne Cup.
I'm quite partial to the race that stops a nation. It was Melbourne Cup day 3 years ago that I -- pink target stilettos in hand, fascinator clinging precariously to a strand of my hair, my blue floral frock hanging on to dear life to my shoulders and twisted around my thighs -- met the love of my life. He walked up and introduced himself and 10 minutes later we were drunkenly slobbering all over each other. Luckily for me after a dirty curry and 2 litres of water I sobered up enough to make some sort of lasting impression and one mortgage and a dog later we are still living in blissville.
But don't you think that paints a pretty clear picture of nearly every girl on cup day, at least once or maybe twice in her life? Not just the hooking up bit, but the fact that we turn up looking glam and sexy and somewhere between the entry gate and sunset we turn into skanks from skank town. Three years ago on a hot Gold Coast day cup day I'm proud to say I was Queen Skank.
