A highly skilled practitioner of Japanese martial arts, having won All Japan Championships and World Tournaments since childhood. He was scouted by Jinsei Shinzaki and joined Michinoku Pro Wrestling. From January 2014, he participated in NOAH events while still affiliated with Michinoku, and officially joined NOAH in March 2015. Initially, he was active in the junior heavyweight division, winning the GHC Junior Tag Team Championship, but at the end of 2016, he declared his move to the heavyweight division. In 2017, he won the GLOBAL LEAGUE in his first appearance, and in December of the same year, he won the GHC Heavyweight Championship for the first time. In 2019, he formed the rebellious group "Kongo" with others dissatisfied with NOAH's new system. They expanded their influence as a central unit in NOAH's rivalries, but in June 2023, at his 15th-anniversary event, he suddenly declared the group's dissolution, stating, "There is no evolution if you seek stability!" Kongo disbanded, and the members went their separate ways with strong convictions.
His fighting style is characterized by intense striking, utilizing Japanese martial arts techniques, but he also possesses a variety of finishing moves, including the P.F.S (Professional Foot Stamp), Dragon Suplex, Ankle Hold, and Sleeper Hold.
He is considered an opinion leader who drives NOAH itself, thanks to his strong communication skills, including a column in Weekly Pro Wrestling and his YouTube channel, "Ken-Oh Channel." Due to his influence, he often finds himself at the forefront of inter-promotional matches. Although he addresses fans with a condescending tone, calling them "you damn bastards!", he enjoys a large following.
Outside the ring, he has a side that loves the ocean and snorkeling.
