A final excerpt from our film 'The Watchmaker's Apprentice'. This documents the moment when a young Roger Smith returned to the Isle of Man to visit the house of the inimitable Watchmaker, Dr George Daniels, with his 2nd attempt to make a watch entirely by hand. His final chance of impressing the elderly craftsman.

That very same watch - featured in these clips - broke the record earlier this year as the most expensive British timepiece ever to be sold. It reached $4.9 million in a New York auction. The previous record, of just under $4.1 million, was set by none other than Dr Daniels himself.

You can watch the full documentary 'The Watchmaker's Apprentice' on Amazon Prime. Or contact Dave Armstrong at DAM Productions (anotherdam.com) for one of the few remaining Special Collectors Edition DVD Box sets.
