In this episode of Machine Music we have the Voyager Modular Guitar by Reddick Guitars, a handmade instrument that aesthetically recalls premium wood designs of yesteryear, the feature set of tomorrow, and a sound as you decide it to be. This Modular guitar features separate modules for each section of electronics - in this tune, we fast swap pickups so quickly the chord is still ringing. Each song section gets a different pickup position, with a stark contrast after the in-time pickup swap at the half way. How is does the same part sound with a single coil neck pickup or a humbucking neck pickup? Fun to explore.
Our pedals in this one are set to a sort of edge of breakup with a tight focused Longsword setting and a clean amp being pushed act from the Benson. Astral Decay giving us sub-octave reverb to fill out the bass-less instrumental. This set of pedals highlight the clean edge of single coils and focused bite of humbuckers. The guitar is tuned to EBD#G#C#E, as I was imagining the ease in a studio space that a guitar like this could bring when recording overdubs in unique tunings
