Building Raised Garden Beds
Raised beds take gardening to another level. Pun intended! Raised beds make gardening a piece of cake for many reasons: the soil drains better and is also super fertile by adding lots of compost and organic matter. Vegetables in raised beds are planted earlier in the season because soil warms up faster, and they can be planted closer together because roots can go deep. This cuts down on weeding because plants shade out weeds. Planting closer together also makes the soil stay moister due to the living mulch, which decreases the need to water in summer.
We mulched the garden paths with landscaping cloth and wood chips, which will eliminate weeding and slugs! Yay!
