Flash Floods in Afghanistan
It barely takes one disaster event to bring majority of Afghan population to the footpath.
Nearly 2/3 of the pollution rely on agriculture for livelihoods, a highly fragile and climate-sensitive sector. In the current erratic weather pattern of cyclic droughts and frequent floods, even if the crops somehow managed the stresses-water period, they will be hit hard by the gushy, violent flash floods. Not only destroyed the Agricultural fields, but also demolished partially/completely residential houses, roads and other basic facilities.
In the recent flash floods, at least 31 have been killed, 41 are missing and over 100 people have been injured so far. Hundreds of acres of Agricultural fields have been deteriorated. Efforts of months vanished in minutes. Months of hard work vanished in the blink of an eye.
