Evidence for the Universe Simulation Hypothesis | Information Bits of Reality |The Vopson Experiment
It's unlikely that there's a single person who hasn't heard of the simulation hypothesis. Many consider it nothing more than a trope for science fiction and an inexhaustible source for cinematic masterpieces.
And yet, many reputable scientists take the concept of matrix reality quite seriously and, to varying degrees, accept its existence. Three months ago, information theorist Melvin Vopson of the University of Portsmouth announced that he had found a way to test this hypothesis experimentally.
The point is that the "simulated universe" will be based on information bits, which together constitute a code. Detecting such information bits will prove the simulation hypothesis.
The scientist cites Rolf Landauer's Principle, formulated back in 1961 and recognized as a law of physics. According to this principle, information is a physical quantity, and a bit of information has mass, albeit very insignificant – several million times lighter than a hydrogen atom...
