Some motorcycles are universally praised. Others divide opinion completely.
In this video, I look at what I call “Marmite bikes” — machines that riders either absolutely love or strongly dislike, with very little middle ground.
These are the motorcycles that spark debates in forums, split opinions in ride groups, and often leave owners deeply loyal while others simply don’t understand the appeal.
So what makes a bike controversial? Is it design, performance, character, reputation, or something more personal about how we connect with motorcycles?
Topics covered in this video:
What makes a “Marmite bike”
Why riders form strong opinions about certain motorcycles
Design choices that divide opinion
Performance vs character debates
Emotional attachment to motorcycles
Why there is no “right” answer in motorcycling
Whether you agree or disagree, these bikes often have one thing in common — character. And in motorcycling, character often matters more than perfection.
