On this beautiful hike, I'll take you from the small village of Chiareggio (Valmalenco) to the beautiful "Gerli-Porro" and "Ventina" refuges, before continuing on to admire the stunning Lake Pirola.
After leaving your car in one of the many parking lots in the small village, follow the signs to the center, where a small bridge will take you across the river and the trail begins.
The first section of the trail is very simple, free of dangers and obstacles, and in about an hour it will take you to the beautiful plain where the refuges are located and where you can also admire the Ventina Glacier.
If you want to continue to the lake, you'll have to descend for a few minutes from the trail you took and, at a fork, follow the signs for Lake Pirola.
The trail becomes a little steeper but still easy to navigate, and, passing through beautiful forests of larch, pine, and fir trees, you'll reach the beautiful lake in about an hour and a half. This man-made body of water has a fantastic turquoise color, surrounded by many imposing mountains.
On the way back, we'll take a different route, descending again to Alpe Pirola, then taking the trail that passes Alpe Zocche and takes us back to Chiareggio.
