Japan has just landed 2 fighter jets on the runway it once used to launch kamikaze suicide attacks against the Americans in World War 2. Clark Air Base is located in the Philippines, who were occupied by Japan during the war. A Philippine General even said the Japanese "are now allies". This is part of a growing relationship between countries in the region trying to contain China and their growing dominance. China also has been loitering fishing vessels in the Spratly Islands and creating man made islands to claim the sea region as their own. Considering how close to the Philippines this region is, the Philippines is not happy.
