Randomly decided to give this one a try. I initially attempted to set Mini Beast runs, which in fact, I improved BKT, but not by a considerable amount. Then I got curious about how Jetsetter would do here, since Sprinter did pretty well. I got 10th Kart with it back when tops were considerably weaker. I was wondering if Jetsetter could get closer to Sprinter, but I was pretty sure there was no way I was beating my Sprinter time. Boy, how wrong I was.
It turns out Jetsetter is amazing in this track, much better than I anticipated. If I didn't have a faster time, this would be 7th Kart as of this video's upload date. Not only that, back in September 2020, Kart WR was 1:47.796, which this time beats. Maybe in a different universe, Jetsetter would've made history in Karts, but sadly not in this one...
There's actually quite a bit going on, regarding Rosalina's usage instead of Funky's. I also tested Funky, in fact I was using him prior to switching to Rosalina. And you guessed it; I was getting much better results with Rosalina. It's actually pretty simple why she's faster in this track with the Jetsetter.
The main reason you might think Rosalina would lose the most time compared to Funky is on the boost panels, which there are a ton of them. Well funnily enough, she barely loses time. Funky Kong goes exactly at 120 km/h on the boost panel. As you can see in this video, Rosalina is ever so slightly slower in them, being 119.8 km/h. They reach the same speed while shrooming, so it's essentially not that much of a time loss.
Rosalina however has a higher miniturbo stat, which comes in handy in quite a few spots of the track. The main one being on the snaking right before the boost panel section. I'm also doing a different strat than I do on Sprinter and Flame Flyer before the very last boost panel. After a bit of testing, it was clear to me what method was the faster one. Super miniturbo into a straight line instead of drifting to then reach the last boost panel. Jet's awful drift stat doesn't help a lot there, mainly because you can bonk the wall, or get a very wide line, and an extra miniturbo barely benefits Jetsetter. Once I have more room to be able to drift (after clearing the barrier), I then release 2 miniturbos. In the transition to lap 3 however, traffic doesn't allow me to get another miniturbo, otherwise I would get hit by the blue car. Again missing one miniturbo isn't even that much slower on Jetsetter anyway.
Rosalina actually loses the most time on the double tricks (111.3 to Funky's 112), but thankfully there are no more tricks on this track. I deeply believe Rosalina is overall faster with the current strats on Jetsetter. As of Flame Flyer, she actually loses a ton of time on Funky Kong on the boost panels, as opposed to Jetsetter for some reason, so it's quite unrealistic she has a chance of Kart WR with the current strats on Flame Flyer. Speaking of which, pretty sure that will be my next project...
