Presented in collaboration with the Wikimedia Foundation, this webinar will explore a model for safeguarding the provenance of scientific information online. We will discuss the Wikipedia model, including the benefits and challenges of this relative to other models for digital platforms. Of particular interest will be the steps the platform has taken to safeguard the integrity of Wikipedia content and support its global community of volunteer editors. We will also discuss the lessons that science communication and internet governance can take from the Wikipedia story.
Editors of the Wikimedia community and research programmes seeking to increase the visibility of high quality research will find this webinar of particular interest.
