The Virtue of Reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Friday - Khalid Basalamah
"Whoever reads Surah Al-Kahf on Friday will be illuminated with light between the two Fridays." (Narrated by An Nasa'i and Bayhaqi. Shaykh Al Albani said that this hadith is authentic, as stated in Sahih al-Jami' no. 6470)
How many people neglect this practice on Friday night or on Friday, namely reciting Surah Al-Kahf. Or perhaps some people are unaware of this practice. Yet, reciting Surah Al-Kahf is highly recommended (mustahab) on Fridays due to its immense reward, as reported by a truthful person who brought true teachings, namely the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). We have included some of the hadiths that discuss this in this short post. We hope this is helpful.
First hadith:
مَنْ قَرَأَ سُورَةَ الْكَهْفِ لَيْلَةَ الْجُمُعَةِ أَضَاءَ لَهُ مِنَ النُّورِ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْبَيْتِ الْعَتِيقِ
“Whoever reads Surah Al-Kahf on Friday night will be illuminated with light between him and the Kaaba.” (HR. Ad Darimi. Shaykh Al Albani said that this hadith is authentic as in Shohihul Jami' no. 6471)
Second hadith:
مَنْ قَرَأَ سُورَةَ الْكَهْفِ فِى يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ أَضَاءَ لَهُ مِنَ النُّورِ مَا بَيْنَ May Allah bless him and grant him peace
"Whoever reads Surah Al-Kahf on Friday will be illuminated with light between the two Fridays." (Narrated by An-Nasa'i and Bayhaqi. Shaykh Al-Albani said that this hadith is authentic, as stated in Sahih al-Jami' no. 6470)
