Girl In The World: Floodplain
A good word picture can help me understand my own heart and humanity better than anything. As a word person, I geek out when a good metaphor comes along, and the Mississippi floodplain has become a beautiful, multi-dimentional metaphor to help me understand my journey with anxiety and depression. When I look out from my own story, it also helps increase empathy in me for people caught in generational poverty, systemic oppression, or anyone subject to the floods.
