Decent windstorm hits during the early evening on Monday. About 10 hours later, early Tuesday morning, a much more powerful wind event swept through Minneapolis. Torrential rains fell in a matter of a few minutes despite the rapid pace of both storms. Wind damage was widespread and almost a quarter million Xcel customers lost power.
I was lucky as the winds at my location were not as strong as many other areas around Hennepin county.
2013 was the last time the metro experienced back to back damaging windstorms in less than 24 hours.
