Re-examining The Seminal Catastrophe
Despite the fact that this may be the most research-intensive video project I've ever done, it certainly never felt that way. I was gifted the second volume of Bertrand Russell's Autobiography several months ago by one of my teachers, and was blown away by the number of different fields and areas of study he had an influence on. Then, a few weeks ago, I discovered a copy of Stefan Zweig's "The World of Yesterday" in a little free library near where I live, and as I read, comparisons between his work and Russell's kept jumping out at me. Soon, a cohesive narrative was beginning to form in my head, bugging me, until finally I caved and gathered all my notes to start writing.
So in this way, I really had no idea I was researching for a video project while reading these books. But I really enjoyed exploring their ideas, and putting them together into this video essay.
