Ray Merrell with Pete Moore and His Orchestra - I love you Samantha
The signature tune to the long running Radio 2 show "The David Jacobs Collection". The show ran from 1998 to 2013 and was broadcast on Sunday nights at 11pm. I used to listen at school, through University and beyond so the song brings back many happy memories.
I have been searching high and low for this song, the last remaining tune missing from my song collection, for almost 16 years!! Charity shops, rare record collectors - you name it, I've tried it! It's been credited on the BBC website as performed by Pete Moore however it was only this year that I stumbled across a website listing record numbers and found that this particular record - Columbia SX 6162 - was credited to Ray Merrell with Pete Moore. A bit more searching and I found that the record was for sale by a Polish record dealer - how about that then! Roughly £8 later and I've got myself an early Christmas present, the perfect way to end the year!
