Yuri Yoshikawa: Japan's Decades Long Unsolved Disappearance Case (Documentary)
On the 20th of May, 2003, 9-year-old Yuri Yoshikawa walks home from school with three of her classmates in southern Osaka prefecture’s Kumatori town, subsequent to their field trip to the Sewerage Science Museum that day. After about two-thirds of the way home, Yuri says her goodbyes to her friends and enters the Shichiyama neighborhood around 3 pm, slowly making her way home on a clear comfortable day. Right before she enters the curvy and narrow streets she passes one of her childhood friends about 400 meters from her home. Little did the boy know, that he would be the last person to see Yuri before she seemingly vanished into thin air for more than two decades. In this documentary we’ll explore Yuri’s last steps, the publicly available details of the investigation and the tragic aftermath in order to shed some more light on this heartbreaking case. By creating this video, I hope to bring more attention to this longstanding unsolved case as to support the Yoshikawa family in their search for their daughter.
