Which Digital Painting Programs I Use! | Industry Standard?
Let me share what digital painting programs I use. Now normally I use photoshop and thats what I started with back in high school a few years ago. The main reason I paint in Photoshop, besides thats what I learned on, is because its considered an "industry standard." This is a pretty big deal because of how much of a commitment one has to make to learn a new program. Now I love learning and trying out new programs but its not always advantageous when trying to streamline your process since you'll be spending a lot of your time learning where everything is and fiddling through the menus.
The second program that I love using for digital painting is Procreate! Now I spoke about this in my last video but I love being able to digitally paint on my iPad as a truly great companion to my desktop workflow. Not to mention the touch gestures that Procreate offers lets you accomplish so much without using a keyboard, especially because you can import and export photoshop files with this program, letting you work cross platform.
Now some digital painting programs I would love to explore and checkout more are programs and apps such as Sketchbook Pro, Corel Painter and Clip Paint Studio. Now I've heard good things from these and I previously used Manga Studio a little bit which is now Clip Studio but I've also used Sketchbook briefly and would really like to take another attempt and it.
Additionally, in regards to the other software I use to make these videos I usually use OBS to record my digital painting process on my Macbook Pro and then of course either use Procreate video timelapse exporting feature or iOS 11's screen recording feature. Now for editing I've recently been using adobe Premiere which has really let me push my creative freedom in my ability to produce videos lately, however with that being said I started with iMovie on my Macbook and honestly it worked just fine and if thats all you have don't assume it can't hold its own. It's a phenomenal program to start with and I love the simplicity of it. Finally when recording my audio I use audacity which is a free program on Mac and Windows and honestly is fantastic, especially since it costs you nothing.
