Fallero artists show the backstage of the Valencian Fire Festival
Fallas are ephemeral works of art made by specialized fallero artists. Every year, these giant sculptures are assembled in the streets of Valencia by March 15th. This occasion marks the first time that the individual pieces, meticulously constructed throughout the year, come together to form a complete monument. Just days later, the impressive fallas are deliberately set ablaze.
The fallero scholar Jesús Peris describes the plantá as a very climactic moment, as it reveals the final sculpture. But it is precisely the burning of the sculpture that gives it its meaning.

On March the 14th the city of Valencia, in Spain, becomes a unique showcase of art until the night of March the 19th, when the fire devours more than 700 sculptures scattered throughout the city. Valencia lives its most emblematic festival; a festival that was declared an intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2016.
Fallas, the Festival of Fire is a documentary that has been recorded for 4 frenetic days, the same days this spectacular festival runs. Monuments, flowers, music and pyrotechnics, as well as Valencian people who live the Fallas intensely, are its protagonists; like Manolo García, the architect of the main Fallas sculpture in Valencia, who wants to make history by raising a sculpture of more than 20 meters high in the heart of the city; or Ana, at the age of just 8, who will live an unforgettable experience in this Fallas festival.
