Volunteers came together to restore and preserve a historic cemetery where African Americans who were former slaves and their decedents buried their dead and built a thriving community. It has been neglected and abandoned for years, but now the county has agreed to restore and maintain this important piece of our history. St. John's cemetery was found on a ranch in Pilot Point, Texas and it's one of many historic sites of African American history in the county that need preservation.
