A detailed walkthrough of how to fully disassemble a Glock slide to clean or swap out parts.
Start by removing the slide from the frame by pulling the slide back and moving your takedown lever down. Once the slide is removed, take out the barrel and guide rod. Set those aside, we won't need those for this portion.
Using some sort of narrow point objects like a punch, ink pen, or flat head screwdriver, and depress the firing pin collar while simultaneously removing the rear slide plate as shown. Once the rear slide plate is off, go ahead and pull out the firing pin and safety plunger and set them to the side. Next, turn your slide on edge and depress the round silver plunger until the ejector falls free from the side. Once all these steps have been completed, you an wipe down and use your favorite cleaner before reassembling.
Great!
You're halfway there! Now for the reassembly...super simple. Just do everything you did to take it apart in reverse order! The round plunger with spring goes in first, then the extractor, then put in your safety plunger at the rear of the slide, and finally the firing pin. Once all pieces are back where they belong, use the same punch or screwdriver to put your firing pin under spring tension to slide on your rear slide plate. Once you hear a click on the rear slide plate, you're almost done. Check for function (dryfire, reset and dryfire again) and you did it!
You've completely disassembled your Glock slide!
