What is Remediation:
These are PowerShell Scripts
2 PowerShell Scripts are required:
Detect the issue (Detection script)
Fix the issue (Remediate script)
Benefits: To fix one of the common issues for user’s devices. Can help checking device compliance status / benchmarking, to create the policy if missing in setting catalog. Example: Service is stop, missing registry key, missing folders/files etc.
Detection Script: To detect the issue
If setting missing/not matching, use exit 1 (indication of error/failure)
If setting exists, use exit 0 (indication of success)
Note: Remediation will only trigger if detection script
Remediation Script: To fix the issue.
Example: Will create registry key/value, service start/stop, deletion etc. Output the script with exit 0.
Requirement and Limitation
License
Windows 10/11 Enterprise E3 or E5 required.
If you have:
Microsoft 365 E3 or E5: It will work
Microsoft Business Premium: Won’t work
Limitations: Script Limit
200 script packages
Remediation Script Policy
After restarting of device or user logins
After restarting of IME Service (Intune Management Extension service)
Every 8 hours
