Today I am going to show you how to make the most of your footage by making silky smooth super slow motion even though your clip has a relatively low FPS.
This works on clips with 24 FPS or higher, but the more FPS you've got, the better the end result will be.
First, we slow down our clip by right-clicking and selecting Speed/Duration. In this example, I go with a 40% speed but you can go all the way down to 25% depending on the particular clip you are using. Then we make sure to change the "Time Interpolation"-setting to "Optical Flow".
The clip will look choppy at this point, but all we have to do is to pre-render our file. Select the clip in your timeline and go to Sequence and click Render Selection. This process will take a moment depending on the length of your clip and your PC speed.
Once it has finished rendering, your clip will playback smoothly in slow motion even though you didn't have very high FPS to begin with. This is thanks to the optical flow time interpolation technology.
