My name is Ally and I’m currently a year 11 student and I'm looking to do surveying as a career. I've done work experience at Land Surveys before and I wanted to come back because I enjoyed it so much.
The mentors at Land Surveys have given me great opportunities and I've just enjoyed my time being with them they've been very open and supportive and very inclusive which is also helpful. I feel very welcomed here and they're also very smart and teach me a lot of things which is very helpful as well. My main highlights at Land Surveys was definitely going to Matagarup Bridge. It was my first time being there and we were surveying the whole bridge to see if it was moving up and down, side to side and comparing it to data they had collected a year ago.
Being able to watch how they're able to monitor the bridge and making sure that it’s going to stay stable for many years to come is really interesting and that I helped, and I worked with them to do that which is pretty cool.
Surveying is definitely my first option when it comes to a career. I think it's very interesting as I love maths and science and having that balance between outdoors and indoors is very helpful. It’s like one of the best careers I've heard of.
