Upgrading to macOS Monterey (12.0.1)
If you're thinking about upgrading to macOS Monterey, here is my experience and some tips! Overall very smooth, but my Mac is relatively up-to-date already.
I have a 2019 Intel iMac with 64GB of RAM and almost 1TB of free space. You will need probably at least 20GB of free space to successfully run this upgrade. (Check the requirements on this page and find out if your Mac is compatible: https://www.apple.com/macos/monterey/)
There are many considerations when upgrading, mostly if coming from an older Mac or Operating System:
age and health of the computer
available storage and memory
what operating system you are upgrading from
compatibility of all your software and other connected devices (like printers and scanners)
make sure you have a backup in case anything goes wrong and you need to revert back
