STRATEGY
Mork's Nezarec POV: • Destiny 2: 2 Man Nezarec Root of Nightmare...
0:00 - CATACLYSM
1 doing ball the other on ads/tormenters.
6:00 - SCISSION
1 person for field of light (FOL) balls 1 person for flux of darkness (FOD) balls. I did some transversives to phoenix hot swaps when I'd plant well just to get some super energy back faster since as you can see, I am not really killing ads while finishing the balls. Eager edge is also nice here to ignore the launchers (since they can sometimes be cringe).
14:00 - MACROCOSM
Loadout: Starfire fusion grenade warlocks with witherhoard and void machine guns for pre-dps phase, then before DPS switch to bump in the night frenzy rocket launchers. We also used 3x stasis font for 22% bonus damage with our rockets.
Strategy: Utilize bricks from beyond artifact mod and void weapon kills on the orange and yellow bar ads in the encounter to generate as much heavy as possible in the room. Mork and I found using MG was the method for trying to clear ads efficiently while making ammo for DPS such that when we did the planet shifting phase ads weren't swarming the arena.
Our flow was as follows:
Kill ads
Kill LT on top top planets (4,5,6) and switch those planets.
Remain on switched side and kill more ads
After centurions die again, kill the LT on the bottom planets (1,2,3) and switch those planets.
Remain on switched side and kill more ads and remaining LTs until you trigger new LTs to spawn again.
Index planets for DPS
Hot swap to Bump in the Night Rocket and shoot to loot or pick up heavy ammo bricks
Place well in the center of all 3 plates so you can easily get the plate buff and then slide back into the well
Repeat for 3 phases
25:52 - NEZAREC
Loadout:
Mork: He had 3 armor swaps going in this encounter: an aeon's loadout, a felwinter's loadout (debuff), and a starfire loadout. For weapons Mork has ghorn, a trace rifle, and sucession.
N0Lai: I had 2 armor swaps going in this encounter: an aeon's loadout , and a starfire loadout with 3x arc font and 3x time dilation. For weapons I used a sucession (for aeon's loadout), witherhoard (starfire loadout), a trace rifle, and hothead with field prep and clown cartridge.
Strategy: Due to the number of ads and the fact that the boss boops you in the air constantly during Nezarec's hatred we found the method for this 2 man was not to try and bypass the wipe mechanic. This fight boils down to a timing balance of knowing where and when to proc the safety spot, knowing when to progress the ball completions, and knowing when it's safe enough to generate ammo via finishers. Our flow in this encounter was usually as follows:
start the encounter and shoot 1-2 balls
focus on shooting shoulders or chest depending on if Nezarec already started hatred. Once shoulders are shot callout the safe side light/dark (blue/orange).
if I felt I had some time I'd do 1 more ball right after this call is made.
person that needs to proc the safety ball would usually get flux/field around this time and then callout the safe spot. We'd usually then leave this spot when Nezarec begins his wipe animation.
at this point we'd both return to our respective sides and start finishing the remaining balls while attempting to aeon finish the yellow bar LTs if possible and time permits
once all balls are finished Mork would swap to his felwinters loadout, plant a well mid, and then start finishing the large group of ads around mid to debuff the boss. While this is happening I'd usually be dropping down from the Nezarec's spawn position after I swap to my starfire loadout.
I began to have a better feeling on the timing of when DPS would start as we continued to do this encounter so once I saw the boss was debuffed I would plant well on the spot shown in the video.
from here, it's pretty much dump as many rockets and fusion nades into Nezarec in that 30-35 second DPS window
repeat the following for 2 more phases, sometimes using more safety spots if necessary.
THOUGHTS
Thanks for stopping by and hope some of this information was useful if this is something you want to try. I strongly feel the first 2 encounters are incredible straight forward, the 3rd encounter has a bit of a flow but is also very straight forward, then the 4th encounter is just an understanding of when things need to happen and at what time. If you've never tried to low man or specifically 2 man a raid, this is a good one to try!
