Ray Brown
Ray Brown (Pittsburgh, 13 ottobre 1926 – Indianapolis, 2 luglio 2002) è stato un contrabbassista statunitense di musica jazz.
Ha un posto di rilievo nella vasta schiera di pittsburghiani assieme ad altri musicisti jazz di prestigio tra i quali Erroll Garner, Kenny Clarke e Mary Lou Williams, e fa parte, assieme a Oscar Pettiford, Charlie Mingus e Percy Heath, della generazione di bassisti allievi di Jimmy Blanton[1].
Considerato dalla critica una pietra miliare, viene ricordato per la sua potente sonorità e per la capacità di adattarsi a circostanze diverse grazie alla sua grande familiarità con il linguaggio del bebop[2]. Qui in una esibizione registrata dalla Telarc in DSD

Ray Brown (October 13, 1926 - July 2, 2002) was an American jazz double bass player.
He holds a prominent place in the vast array of Pittsburghians alongside other prestigious jazz musicians including Erroll Garner, Kenny Clarke and Mary Lou Williams, and is part, together with Oscar Pettiford, Charlie Mingus and Percy Heath, of the generation of student bassists by Jimmy Blanton[1].
