The solenoid is the one of the important part of an ON OFF valve
which operates the valves operation according to the power supply
It can be either normally closed or normally open.
When the valve is energised, it switches from one position to the other, allowing air to flow through the different ports
There are different types of solenoids based on their action
Any solenoid is deasignated as X/Y way valve
Where, X represents the number of ports, Y represents the number of positions
EXAMPLE 5/2 way valve
5 represents the number of ports
2 represents the number of positions
5 by 2 way valves are used to actuate double acting pneumatic actuators, such as pneumatic cylinders, rodless cylinders, grippers and rotary actuators.
Double acting actuators require compressed air to move in both directions.
