A heartfelt thank you to the Norwegian Laft Hus Society & Museum for opening their doors, welcoming us to explore these incredible artifacts, and allowing me to film so this experience could be shared with all of you. Their team did a fantastic job presenting and explaining each item! Truly keeping Norwegian heritage alive here in Canada.
In this full-length tour, Willow takes us through a few fascinating Norwegian artifacts, each with its own unique history and cultural significance:
Bunad – The traditional Norwegian folk costume, full of color, embroidery, and history.
Tine (pronounced “tee-na”) – A handcrafted wooden storage box for food, gifts, or keepsakes.
Ale Bowl – A carved ceremonial vessel for sharing drinks during festive gatherings.
Mangle Board / Mangletre – A beautifully decorated tool for smoothing linens, often given as a love gift.
Rosemaling – Norway’s signature style of painted floral and scroll designs.
Primstaven – A wooden calendar stick used to track seasons and important dates.
Kubbestol – A solid chair carved from a single tree trunk, showcasing skill and tradition.
