Oregon State University is building three new Regional Class Research Vessels (RCRV).
The first ship, R/V Taani, will be operated by Oregon State University on the West Coast. The second ship, R/V Narragansett Dawn, will be operated by the University of Rhode Island, as part of the East Coast Oceanographic Consortium (ECOC). The third ship, R/V Gilbert R. Mason, will be operated by a partnership led by the University of Southern Mississippi and the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium. All three vessels will be part of the University-Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS). The project is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
