A snow storm is coming - Free camping by the river | Omakau and Ophir
Central Otago is a pretty special place, well and truly undeveloped and plenty of old stone houses from the Gold rush days around. We love hanging out in this area, and we're keen to see it again in the roasting summer...
Free camping by the Manuherikia river is easily findable on google maps, searching by Omakau.
The domain camp ground has lots of facitilites, we found it to be a little expensive for a public domain. Normally these area about $30 or so. But it was a well worth stop over us to be able to fill the tanks to the brim, and empty all toilet cassettes, and grey water.
