About our time in Cancun:
My wife and I were travelling through the country`s Yucatan peninsula for a good two weeks and made sure we documented whatever was thought to be any value.
We met locals not only through Couchsurfing, but whenever we needed help or seemed lost. Locals are super nice to tourists which are partially due to the understanding that tourists will boost local`s businesses and partially because of their nature. They are true preachers of living fully and every day they prove why most people believe that Cancun is once in a life to be visited!
We were lucky enough to have hosts that know the city inside out so we were always able to eat the local`s food either made by our own hosts or took from the small alleys allowing us to get prime quality street food! The street food is really clean and encountered no upset stomach or any food-related issues. in fact, Mexico is a perfect proof that its cuisine is best where it is originated from, Mexico. Other countries selling Mexican cuisine is just a poor tryout of mirroring the true, authentic Mexican dishes!
We stayed at the ZONA HOTELERA most of the time in Cancun because it is not only the sweetest spot to chill on the beach but also because our Couchsurfing host was managing a condominium complex, allowing us to relax on its private property all day long! Needless to mention how the Caribbean sea is by far the best seawater I experienced and I am fortunate enough to say that I swam in plenty of seas from all corners of the world.
People with a reason visit this place during the spring holiday or even Christmas holiday because the temperature and the climate just happen to be optimal all the time and by that it allows tourists to enjoy the city all 365 days around the year.

About Cancun:
Cancún is a city in southeast Mexico on the northeast coast of the Yucatán Peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. It is a significant tourist destination in Mexico and the seat of the municipality of Benito Juárez. The city is on the Caribbean Sea and is one of Mexico's easternmost points.Cancún is just north of Mexico's Caribbean coast resort band known as the Riviera Maya. In older English-language documents, the city’s name is sometimes spelled "Cancoon", an attempt to convey the sound of the name.
Apart from the island tourist zone (part of the world's second-longest coral reef), the Mexican residential section of the city, the downtown part of which is known as "El Centro", follows a master plan that consists of "supermanzanas" (superblocks), giant trapezoids with a central, open, non-residential area cut in by u-shaped residential streets.
Ave. Tulum is the main north-south artery, connecting downtown to the airport, which is some 30 km (19 mi) south of downtown. Tulum is bisected by Ave. Cobá. East of Ave. Tulum, Cobá becomes Ave. Kukulcan which serves as the primary road through the 7-shaped hotel zone. Ave. Tulum ends on the north side at Ave. Paseo José López Portillo which connects to the main highway west to Chichén Itzá and Mérida. Another major north-south road is Ave. Bonampak which runs roughly parallel to Ave. Tulum. The main ferry to Isla Mujeres is located in Puerto Juárez, on Ave. Paseo José López Portillo.
Until recently, most mainland buildings were four stories or shorter; since 2005, there has been an influx of condominium and luxury retail and office space concentrated along Ave. Bonampak.
Cancún's mainland or downtown area has diverged from the original plan; development is scattered around the city. The remaining undeveloped beach and lagoon front areas outside the hotel zone are now under varying stages of development, in Punta Sam and Puerto Juarez to the north, continuing along Bonampak and south toward the airport along Boulevard Donaldo Colosio. One development abutting the hotel zone is Puerto Cancún; also Malecon Cancún is another large development.
