Finding Lost Concepts in Fantasyland
I’m sad we never got that Peter Pan statue 🥺 but given how tight that area is in Fantasyland, it makes sense that they decided to forgo it. The water feature never happened either for the same reason (or they canceled it to reduce the budget, which is often why Disney concepts change as well).
All of these pieces of lost designs that ended up being woven into the attractions we love are a reminder that nothing is ever truly wasted. In our own lives, we may have relationships that didn’t work out as we’d hoped, or situations that we planned to be something more than what they became. At those times, it’s easy in our disappointment and heartbreak to wish it had gone differently, or perhaps wonder if it was all just a waste of time.
But I think, like these concepts that didn’t turn out exactly as planned either, that all of our experiences are shaping us, giving us something we will need in the future to be who we need to be. Maybe its compassion, empathy, or emotional resilience we needed. Or a skill that will serve us later on. Maybe we needed to see the truth about someone and recognize that we deserve to be treated better than they were able, and having them in our lives gave us the gift of standing up for ourselves and knowing our worth.
Whatever concept you feel has been lost in your life, just know that there was a reason it happened the way it did, and eventually you’ll be looking at the piece of it that became a beautiful part of you despite the chaos of its origins. 💜
