Hiking 65 Miles Over Scottish Highlands | The Southern Upland Way
Last week I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to thru- hike the Southern Upland Way from Sanquhar through to Innerleithen. This section is the 'middle' section of the trail which in total is over 200miles - my hike was 65 miles - I was thoroughly spoilt for weather, despite walking through a local heatwave, it was pleasant but challenging. I wild camped in the mountains for the 4 days and pretty much had the trail and area to myself. In total, i think i saw just 3 people in total - no walkers, but a farmer training a sheepdog and a gentleman fixing a telephone box! I suspect this was probably as conditions weren't solely favorable for multi day walking. Water finding was problematic, and a lot of the streams were dry, as were the bogs which were completely dry. The mornings were best for collecting water from streams and brooks, but by the afternoon they had stopped flowing. I was very pleased with the conditions for filming, and hope you enjoy watching - ,
