Introducing our new series, Lab Tips! Our first tip focuses on iceless washing. For the longest time we thought ice was necessary to introduce enough shear for trichomes to detach from the stalk. After some R&D, we quickly realized that the only purpose of the ice is to keep the temperature of your wash mixture cold. If your environment is too warm to maintain wash temps of around 34-35 degrees Fahrenheit without ice, we recommend placing the ice in your collection vessel instead of the wash vessel. This will allow your water to chill as you collect your h@sh.

Advantages of iceless washing:
-Less chlorophyll contaminant
-Fit more material in your wash vessel
-Maintaining an ice maker is time-consuming

The ultimate solution for iceless washing is our chilled water skid! The system includes a water chiller that recirculates a 300-gallon tank of RO water, so you always have chilled water on demand for washing and collection.
