Build: 21" Wooden Jointer Plane: Part 1
This is my first plane build.
Big Leaf Maple.
21" long body.
2" wide O2 blade from Veritas.
In part 1 I make the rough mortise and open the mouth mortise.
and I learn a lot. And make plenty of mistakes.
Like most things, learning takes time, it takes experience, and only happens when you are open to making mistakes.
I'm glad I filmed the entire process, it only took 35 minutes to get the rough opening, but I'm surprised by how much I learned. Watching and assembling the footage I was able to observe all manner of mistakes and ways to better all my techniques.
