Grant Shapps Promoted to Defence Secretary
Rishi Sunak has appointed close political ally, Grant Shapps, to the Defence department. This is a purely political move as Shapps has no obvious interest in defence or foreign affairs, and has a history of failing to deliver any major policies in government. This is a problem for a department already instrumental in the defence of Europe and the UK.
