Every letter in every alphabet used across the Western world traces its origin to a single harbour on Lebanon's coast. The laws that govern European courtrooms were drafted by scholars trained in Beirut. The colour purple — the colour of power from Roman emperors to Catholic bishops — was invented on Lebanese beaches. Three pillars of Western civilisation, all from a country smaller than Connecticut.
Lebanon has been destroyed and rebuilt seven times in five thousand years of recorded history. In April 2026, the 8th destruction began. Two hundred and 54 people were killed in a single day. 1 million displaced. Residents sheltered inside two-thousand-year-old Roman temples — betting their lives on UNESCO status because nothing else would protect them.
In this documentary, discover what Lebanon actually is — the oldest continuously operating harbour on Earth, cedar forests that predate every empire, cliff monasteries where monks still chant in the language Christ spoke, and the archaeological sites being erased faster than they can be documented.
