Weave in ends in advance
I like to weave in the first end immediately after cast on to get it out of the way (unless I know I’ll need it to close a hole or even out a jog).
The yarn end needs to be tapered. With wool and acrylic it’s enough to tear or fray the yarn, but cotton takes a bit more work: I cut each fiber at a different length.
