If a prey animal manages to escape a Komodo dragon's attack, it shouldn't consider itself lucky for long. You see, for a long time, scientists thought Komodo dragons had really dirty mouths, like, full of deadly bacteria from all the rotting meat stuck in their mouth — and that they used that bacteria to infect and kill their prey.. But that's not true because later research found they have venom glands in their lower jaws, and when they bite that venom stops blood from clotting. That leads to massive blood loss, making even a single bite potentially fatal.
