When I first began using Audacity years ago, I thought that if I forget to plug in my mic or other input device before starting Audacity, it meant I had to restart Audacity to get the program to recognize my audio hardware. But then I discovered the Rescan Audio Devices feature that's built into Audacity. What a great day that was and what a time saver!
