I Am Nevenka | Official Trailer | Now Playing in Theaters
The denunciation that would break the prison of silence. You can now watch the official trailer for #SoyNevenka, directed by Iciar Bollain, starring Mireia Oriol and Urko Olazabal.
Inspired by the true story of Nevenka Fernández, who obtained the first conviction in Spain of a politician for harassment.
A Movistar Plus+ Original film, which will have its world premiere at the San Sebastián Film Festival. 🎬 Now playing in theaters.
In 2000, Nevenka Fernández, 24, a councilor for Finance in the Ponferrada City Council, suffers relentless persecution, both personal and professional, from the mayor, a man accustomed to getting his way in political and personal matters. Nevenka decides to denounce him, even though she knows she will have to pay a very high price: her community doesn't support her, the people of Ponferrada turn their backs on her, and the media subjects her to a public trial.
Her case sparked the #MeToo movement in Spain long before the term was even coined. A story inspired by true events, it made its protagonist a pioneer by bringing an influential and popular politician to court for the first time for sexual and workplace harassment.
