Skeletal remains found in a wooded area in Two Rivers have been confirmed through DNA testing as those of Elijah Vue, who has been missing since February. "It is with a heavy heart that I announce to you today, those remains were identified as Elijah Vue. With that news, and following this briefing, the Amber Alert will be canceled." Meinnert said.
Last Saturday, Sheriff Hartwick informed Chief Meinnert that skeletal remains were discovered by an individual preparing land for hunting in the town of Two Rivers. The area was secured, and resources were gathered for investigation. A forensic anthropologist from the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratories confirmed that the remains were human.
On Sunday, the recovery operation involved the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office, the Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation, and a Wisconsin Crime Lab. The remains were found on private property in a heavily wooded area, about three miles northwest of where Vue was originally reported missing.
