Distillery District! I'm so excited, this is where I started my career (and my first condo). You got to go check it out, there's a brand new condo coming in this place. It's 32 stories, 540 units. Let's go take a look at the site!
This project is called The Goode Condos and I like this project and I'm personally going to invest into it as well. It's such a "Goode" deposit structure no pun intended.
But basically it's 5% down every single year until occupancy (in 2025). So, this year, next year, the year after and then nothing for another five years (Spring 2025). It's pretty awesome. All right, so we're in the Distillery District now and I want to take you to the site. It's not called The Goode Condos because it's a "Goode" name it's actually named after the Gooderham and Warts Limited when they came and just built this distillery 150 years ago. So much history in this area. Let's go take a look.
So you can see all the old cobblestone brick here it's really nice lots of cool coffee shops a lot of gourmet stuff here as well too. I lived in this building for about seven years of my life. I was on the board of directors here and I still own this building. The site is actually just beside this. I want to show you something, check this out. This was the original shoreline from 1832. Look at that, 1832! This is all filled in, crazy enough right? I actually heard stories about I don't know if it's true or not, but I heard that this is where Al Capone used to run his alcohol out of. The Distillery, straight from here, to the USA.
When I say wonderful things in this area I'm talking about transit this streetcar that already exists. The streetcar loop takes you along King Street to Dufferin Street and back, and it comes every five minutes or so. After that there's going to be the East Harbour, which is going to be built soon. It's 14 million square foot of office, retail, a transit hub, and everything. It's not too far away from here and I'll show you a little overview of what's happening.
So you can see this land is pretty big we're on site right now we have this lot and we also have a lot beside it. They're going to be knocking down this building. It's 32 stories, 540 units. The East Bayfront is right there, downtown is just a few minutes away, East Harbour is coming up, and the lake shore is right there. Man it's going to be a good project!
