I always seem to underestimate how long it takes to do some things. This was my first time trying out the rusty metal primer, don't think I will be using it for anything else other than the frame.
I still need to fix the step on the passenger side. Since I have to strip and repaint the driver side step I think I'm going to repair the passenger side step at the same time, and repaint them together.
Last night I got the cap off the brake master cylinder and got some fluid in it and broke loose one of the wheel cylinders. It looks like someone had tried to repair the brakes years ago, and just didn't finish. Most of the brake lines have already been replaced at some point, and the rubber lines going to the wheel cylinders are still soft and pliable without any cracks. I did find the line that goes between the master cylinder and the hydrovac unit wasn't replaced and is full of pinholes so I'm going to try replacing that line tonight and see if I can get the brakes to pump up.
I'm going to have to replace all the vacuum lines going back to the rear differential to get the vacuum leaks stopped before testing the hydrovac unit. I'm hoping the rain will hold off long enough for me to pressure wash the diff off this weekend so I can take the vacuum high low control off to replace the barb fittings and check the diaphragm.
Still hunting around to see if I can find some used 8.25-22.5 demountable rims for the dayton hubs. One of the rear tires blew out at some point while I had it parked in front of the garage. I don't want to pull the axles to work on the brakes until I have some new tires to put back on the truck.
