HIV and Incarceration | Patient Voices
For many LGBTQ plus people living with HIV, the criminal justice system can be the end of the line, a steel barred cage that separates them from the physical and psychological care they need. But for others, it can be a wake up call to a much different future.
This issue, Patient Voices, is a companion piece to a recent EHIV review publications on overcoming post incarceration care disengagement authored by Doctor ASIC, A Asa Clemenzi Allen of the University of California San Francisco and the San Francisco Department of Health.
Our host is Justin Alves, a nurse, a nurse educator at Boston Medical Center and one of our eHIV review program directors.
Our guest today is Blaise Conway, a person living with HIV who's had direct experience being inside the criminal justice system and who's transformed his life from addiction and incarceration to sobriety and helping others regain control of their lives.
