Three poems from my stock of "Bush Poetry"...
The first is "The Farmers Lament" talking of the struggles of battlers on the land. This one won the 1991 South Australian Bush Poet's Award and was entered in the national competition.
The second is called "Red Dirt Healing" which speaks of the powerful healing found in nature. Written to help in the healing process for indigenous Australians after the failure of the "Voice to Parliament" referendum... where I believe fear won over compassion. This was featured also in an online Magazine called "Elbazin". A high end photography and fashion magazine featuring the photographic work of Simon Upton who does a lot of indigenous shoots with indigenous models.
The Third is called "The Murray River's Rising" which tells the tale of the 2022/23 floods along the Murray river diwn to Lower Lake. I had the opportunity to read this live on the ABC "Australia All Over" program back in 2023.
