🛡️ Defensiveness: Is It Helpful?

In moments of defensiveness, our bodies aren’t betraying us—they’re protecting us. 🛡️ From a Polyvagal Theory perspective, being defensive is an adaptive response. It’s our nervous system’s way of ensuring safety when we perceive a threat. 🧠💪

When we feel defensive, it’s our body’s way of shifting into a state that prioritizes protection over connection. Understanding this can help us approach our reactions with more compassion and awareness. 💭💚 Instead of judging ourselves harshly, we can ask, “What is my body trying to protect me from right now?” 🤔

Remember, our nervous system’s primary job is to keep us safe. By recognizing the wisdom in our defensiveness, we can begin to heal and regulate ourselves with greater ease. 🌱✨
