FDRS 2024 - SMiLE: Advanced Lipedema Reduction Surgery Technique

This talk will present findings from our finalized study on the impact of Lipedema Reduction Surgery and factors that are associated with lipedema. The wide-reaching study looked at factors including pain levels, mobility, activities of daily living, quality of life, and more following surgery. It also addressed questions about what factors are associated with lipedema and what common themes exist for the disease. Some findings include patient reporting more than a 70% overall decrease in pain following surgery, in addition to more than 75% reporting decreases in daily swelling and increase in mobility. The presentation will also highlight the launch of an even more expansive, prospective study that will follow patients after their procedures. The talk aims to increase understanding about lipedema reduction surgery and the impact it can have for patients.
